The World Food Law Institute (US) recommended two Howard University School of Law students to attend the 2019 meeting of the Codex Alimentarius Commission in Geneva, Switzerland. The students were able to witness the discussions among international delegates as the representatives of more than 100 nations discussed the international standards for chocolate, spices, quinoa and many other foods. Codex is identified in the WTO's SPS Agreement (about food safety) as the primary developer of international food standards. Codex standards are voluntary but are adopted into national law by many countries, especially developing and emerging market countries. The UN Food and Agriculture Organization welcomed the two students as this link shows. https://twitter.com/FAOWHOCodex/status/1149373537704206337
