About the event

Extensive food waste contributes to food insecurity and unsustainable food systems. There is considerable variation in date marking and food labeling in the US and around the world. Several attempts are being made to clarify date marking on food products, especially on the consumer level. This roundtable will examine approaches used nationally and internationally to prevent food waste caused by consumer confusion regarding date markings, food safety and food security.

Join FAO North America and the World Food Law Institute for an engaging discussion about the role of date marking in preventing and reducing food waste.
